About

Hello and welcome! I’m Maria K., the creator of this blog, where I share insights, experiences, and resources for parents navigating the complexities of autism. As a mother to a wonderful son with autism, I’m living this sometimes hard and mostly enriching life, which is filled with challenges, learning, and profound growth.

The Embracing Austism Spectrum site is born out of my desire to connect with others who walk a similar path and to offer support and understanding through shared experiences.

My journey began when my son was diagnosed with autism. Like many parents, I initially felt overwhelmed by the diagnosis and unsure about the best ways to support my child. I turned to numerous therapies and treatments, including the widely recommended Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). However, over time, I realized that while ABA had its merits, my son thrived under a combination of different approaches tailored to his unique needs.

This realization sparked my interest in exploring and discussing alternative therapies and strategies that might benefit children with autism who do not respond to conventional methods. My blog is dedicated to exploring these alternatives, sharing success stories, and discussing the daily realities of raising a child with autism.

On this site, you’ll find articles ranging from personal anecdotes about our family’s experiences from autism evaluation and diagnosis to practical advice on handling certain situations, educational tips, and reviews of mainstream therapeutic approaches and some not so mainstream once like autism gymnastics, music therapy, sound therapy. My goal is to provide a space where parents can gain knowledge, find comfort, and feel empowered to make the best decisions for their children.

Autism is a spectrum, and each child’s journey is unique. Through this blog, I hope to highlight that diversity and help parents find the paths that best suit their child’s individuality. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Together, we can support our children to grow, thrive, and lead happy, fulfilling lives.
